Chromium is an open-source web browser, its code is the base for Google's proprietary browser: Chrome. In fact, this browser looks almost exactly the same as Google Chrome. The interface distribution, the menus, the tool bars, the colors, even the logo looks similar.
The basic Chrome functions are present in Chromium: tabs, task manager, incognito browsing and, of course, the fast and quick browsing experience; even the Google search is here in the address bar. But there are some things missing, such as: Google Auto Updater, Google bug report and built-in support for h.264 video streaming.
The big and important advantage is that, since the code is open source, many applications and features made by users can be expected in the following months. This certainly makes the browser very attractive, given that the basic functionality is the same as that of the Chrome browser, just in a more compact package.
So if you are looking for an open-source browser you cannot do much better than Chromium.
